Freat articel Jost, it just makes so much sense. Great insight into the mind-body connection not only in terms of drug use but a general reflection on what we are all searching for.
Cheers,
Bronwyn

Hi Wolfgang. Thanks for your comments. I've never done Ayahuasca and I am not intending to do it, despite the fact that it is the most harmless of all drugs. However, I would have done Ayahuasca 30 years ago.

I believe that once you've done the 'shortcut' by drugs you need to follow up on it as drugs don't take you to the end. Constantly 'shortcutting' only prolongs the process that the initial 'shortcut' initiated. No drugs are complete, they are only 'partial'. It is up to us to complete the journey the drugs began.

I certainly agree with your assessment that the best way to stay sober is to chase spiritual connection or union on a daily basis. I certainly use that method although admittedly not often enough. There are some drugs however that may not be so damaging. Perhaps the best of these can be found in ayahuasca, a hallucinogenic brew traditionally used as a sacrament in some native South American cultures. My experience taking this on 5 nights in Peru dramatically changed my life forever. It actually introduced me to spirituality. Furthermore, the shamans who take this drug (medicine) regularly suffer no ill effects. I agree that seeking these states through natural means is likely preferable, but the shortcut that ayahuasca offers should be respected as something special that falls outside the category of drugs as commonly understand it.

That is just my two cents. I like the site.

Hi Ian, thanks for your comments. I agree with you, drugs do provide temporarily unrestricted expansion, obviously one could argue that this is the evolutionary property of drugs. Whilst bound to physical laws the drug user has a temporary experience of his/her destiny. The drugs obviously don't manifest the destiny, but once stored the drug user is plagued by this memory for life. This I believe is the purpose of drugs: you can't 'delete' the great memories derived from drugs and you are forced to do something about it. The universe created drugs and expects us to continue the journey by discovering sensations and experiences that surpass all drugs. Unfortunately they don't teach those steps at school.

Excellent insight into drugs and their affect. Another allure is that they create a condition that can loosely resemble what we are able to achieve during our time as a pure Spirit with no physical body, total freedom to experience whatever we may choose or whatever come up. Maybe this is way drug taking has become so prevalent particularly with our young people.

I have also observed by talking to drug taker that did not become dependent, that this awakened part of their Spiritual awareness. From my view point this is a risky way to develop a Siritual awareness however everyone's path is different
